My Network is My Net Worth

Tonight’s blog is short and sweet. Consider it a microblog or a Tweet that overran it’s 140 character limit. In the almost 4 years that I’ve been at my current job I’ve been given a freedom since day one that I never had at any other employer throughout my career history. That freedom was to learn new things by going to school, reading, or attending networking events and conferences.

My prior job’s always kept me pigeonholed in the server room or at my desk or pulling wires from underneath someone else’s desk. This great freedom to network and make new connections or learn something new was fascinating to me. I hate that it took this long in my life to find an employer that would allow me to grow my personal & professional network. In this short time I feel that I’ve gained so much knowledge as well as hundreds of new friends and colleagues.

I truly see and believe in the power of community, networking, and making connections with others. I feel that I have access to great people and amazing technologies because of those people. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to grow my network to help lead my career path to the next level.

Thank you to every single person I have met online or face-to-face in these last 4 years. Each and everyone of you have impacted my life in one way or another. I look forward to the bright future of meeting people & growing more of these awesome relationships.

My Network is truly my Net Worth.
