VMware vSphere 5.5 is in general availability today

VMware vSphere 5.5 is GA

Today (a Sunday) is when VMware made their next version of vSphere readily available to the public for our downloading pleasure. Nerds on Parade! VMware vSphere 5.5 has moved into General Availability or GA today which means it has passed its stages of Beta and test rounds where we hope any bugs were fixed.

This is very exciting as vSphere 5.5 has so many amazing new features like NSX, vSAN (still in Beta), to name a few. Don’t forget the 2x capacity VMware has added to almost every single feature of vSphere! So, run and get that download while your favorite NFL team is struggling for the TD.

Careful Now

Just be cautious as you should be with any new software versions released, bugs can still exist even after the vendor has released the product to the public. I cannot stress this enough, Test, Document, Review, then Test Again, edit your noted documents, review again! Testing in a lab setup or completely different network away from production will always be the best route.
