Changing jobs is rough. It’s part of the norm in IT though. I have been very lucky over the past few years to be part of the virtualization community. I say lucky because just about 5-6 years ago I was at a job that I hated and was not only affecting my family life, but also my career path. I feel lucky to have been able to get out of that mess and begin a career focused on virtualization. That move helped me get where I am today. From being involved with VMUG, to leading a VMUG, speaking at conferences, getting certified, etc, etc. That 1st big move was the refocusing that I needed in my career.
Every Year Since, I’ve Been On That Next…
After making that jump years ago, I spent more time as a customer focused and on building a greenfield vSphere environment to support VMware View. That time was also key for me to build my skill set and try new things that were outside of my comfort zone.
If you know me, I am always looking to “level up” my career. In the beginning of 2016 I did just that by going Sigma Solutions as an EUC Consultant where I’ve worked on delivering VMware Horizon & it’s suite of products to customers. Again, I was outside of my comfort zone but ready to learn the ways of the ‘dark side’ aka Consulting. Working for Sigma has afforded me so many benefits for career/education growth. Since joining their team I’ve obtained 5 VMware certs & VCIX, named a VMware EUC Champion, Veeam Vanguard (2016), and spoke at virtualization events. It has been a rewarding adventure for sure.
Don’t Be Mad at Him When It’s On To The Next One
So now this leads me to today’s announcement. I am making those moves again to support my career and family as well as step outside of my comfort zone. Starting next week I am joining forces to consult with Mobius Partners as a Solutions Architect within the Cloud Integration Practice. My role will be a hybrid one with focus on pre-sales as well as some delivery with relation to VMware’s EUC products. I will also be helping guide the creation around an EUC Practice within Mobius. Very exciting times!

I Got a Million Ways to Get it, Choose One
If you’ve noticed, I say “comfort zone” quite a bit. Trust me, get out of yours and things will scare the crap outta you as well as force you to grow positively. I want to publicly thank all of the friends & family members that I have spoke to about this new endeavor over the past few months. The list is too long to mention, but if you took a call/email/meeting/etc from me about ‘change’ or ‘what should I do’…You know who you are! Thanks a million for being there. This virtualization community is no joke, all of you rule!
My biggest THANK YOU goes to my wife Heather. Without her, nothing in my past 12+ years would be possible! Thank you for letting me vent, talk tech (when you had no interest!), bounce ideas off of, change my mind multiple times, and just being an overall amazing wife, friend and partner-in-crime. I love you! You make Work-Life-Balance possible.
