A New Leaf in 2020
Let’s be 100% clear, 2020 has been a shit-storm, to say the least. From family to friends, to life as we know it, everything has changed quite a bit. With these changes comes mass amounts of anxiety and stress as well. 2020 is a year I really wish we could all forget, forever. As with all negative things, there is always a silver lining or some glimmer to help brighten the moment.
Just about two and a half years ago I joined VMware as a Technical Marketing Engineer working with vSphere and vCenter Server in the Cloud Platform Business Unit (CPBU). I hit the road to what was approximately an 80% travel year educating customers and partners on all things vSphere. My team was nothing short of a crew of VMware Rockstars that I had looked up to back when I was a customer and also a Partner. I really learned a ton from these individuals and I am forever grateful to have been part of that extraordinary team and leadership.
What’s Next?
As you can tell, I am obviously on to something new. After careful consideration of a few new opportunities and multiple interviews, and I happy to announce that I have accepted a new role within VMware as a Senior Product Line Marketing Manager in CPBU. My focus will now be towards helping enable our field SEs & AEs on the vSphere portfolio of products within CPBU (vSphere, vSAN, VCF, etc).
Strengthening the field was aways part fo my mindset in Tech Marketing too, so this role made perfect sense for me to try something new and bring my technical chops along for the ride.
Wrapping Up
In a world where most things are viewed in a negative fashion, I feel it is so important to count the positive things. Even the smallest things in life that are positive should be counted, noticed, enjoyed, and loved. I’ve been trying to pass this way of thinking down to the kids at home in our family too.
Believe me, 2020 has been super hard to navigate. So please remember to be kind to each other, lift up your friends and neighbors when possible, and count those positive things. I promise you they will out weight the negative. I was able to see my silver lining much easier when focused on the best outcomes possible.
