Today’s vExpert Spotlight interview is with Simon Eady. Simon is a technical consultant from the UK and is also one of the VMUG Leaders for the South West UK region.

What was your 1st IT gig?
I worked for Tiny computers way back in the late ninety’s as first line support, it was not a fun or easy job (being called by angry people all day long takes its toll!) but I was grateful for it as it allowed me to get my foot on the IT career ladder.
What is your current job title and role?
Technical Consultant for Xtravirt primarily specialising in Virtualisation technologies and any other tech that compliments it.
How many years have you been a vExpert?
2 years
What other IT Communities are you involved with or frequent?
I am one of the VMUG Leaders for the South West UK group also I am a PernixPro, great bunch guys, great company, great products.
What advice would you give to others involved in the VMware community who are looking at becoming a vExpert?
Blog frequently, get involved in your local VMUG community.
Do you currently have a Home Lab environment?
Yes I do. It consists of 3x Dell 490s, 1x Gigabyte Brix, Cisco SG300-20, & Synology DS412+
How do you use VMware products or services in your daily work life?
Presently focusing a lot of my time on vROps, as the client I am currently working for requires that expertise. Else it would be using a broad spectrum of the vCloud/vRealize Suite.
What certifications do you currently hold (if any)?
VCAP-DCD, VCP-DCA, VCP-DCV, VTSP, NPP4
What’s your go to song or music genre when work stress becomes too much?
Generally it would be rock or metal and I am very partial to listening to Joe Bonamassa.
Tell us something about yourself that the community may not already know.
I really enjoy course fishing (fair weather only though) I am also a drummer (but have not had the time of kit for several years now)
