Today’s vExpert Spotlight interview is with Abhilash HB. Abhilash is joining us today from Bangalore, India! I am pretty sure he is my 1st vExpert Spotlight guest from India, and the furthest from Houston so far for sure. Abhilash is a Cloud Consultant with EMC & also a fan of Chelsea FC. What was your 1st IT gig?
Computers fascinate me. I got my first PC when I was in 8th grade and I have never spent a day without sitting in front of one. My first paid job was at Tata Consultancy Services. I started out as an Assistant Systems Engineer and worked as a Solaris administrator for the first couple of months. Then worked with implementation and design of Cisco UCS and a little bit of VMware. Then moved to virtualization and worked both on pre-sales and post sales for couple of years.
What is your current job title and role?
I work as an Associate Consultant with the professional services team at EMC Corporation. As part of my day job I work on design and implementation of VMware and EMC Enterprise hybrid Cloud. When i’m not at work I blog and read a lot on the upcoming technologies and get my hands dirty by trying out new things at my small home lab.
How many years have you been a vExpert?

VMTN and Experts exchange
What advice would you give to others involved in the VMware community who are looking at becoming a vExpert?
When I started out and involved myself in the VMware community, I did not know about vExpert status. I wanted to learn more and more things about virtualization and I used to love answering questions. I learned about it (vExpert Program) on VMTN. So I would say, never do what you do to get the vExpert status. Do it for the love for the technology, and the recognition will automatically come your way.
How do you use VMware products or services in your daily work life?
Almost everything I do with my work and otherwise involves VMware products from vRA to Workstation.
What certifications do you currently hold (if any)?
VCP6-DCV, VCP6-Cloud
What’s your go to song or music genre when work stress becomes too much?
Hard Rock!!
