About to pick up the VCP5-DT Official Cert Guide

I probably don’t really need this cert guide from VMware & Pearson but I know that it will help me tremendously in my studies now for my VCP5-DT as well as prove to be a great reference for my office later. I have taken the ICM classes for both VMware View 5.0 & vSphere 5.1 not to mention I built the current View infrastructure at NS Alloys last year before even thinking of attending a classroom. So sometimes I doubt my need for more books but I know I am lacking in some areas of View such as Linked Clones & Persona Management, two features we have yet to implement into our setup. Thus, I need this book along with my home lab & work environment to guide me to this next certification on my path to excellence.

I recently found that Pearson & Amazon both have this book  available as an eBook in a few different formats for those that do not have a Kindle can still get an EPUB or PDF format to enjoy as well. When I jumped to get the VCP5-DCV Official Cert Guide a few months back I was in my local book store and just snagged it without thinking of how I could have added it to my Kindle…duh. Anxious I guess to move and get the knowledge I needed for the VCP test.

This time I am gonna grab the eBook as I have this great Kindle Fire and only a handful of books on it. Time to put it to better use I think!

Let’s get certified!

    1. Hey Matt!

Yes I did the same on the VCP5-DCV and grabbed the book, greatly helpful. This time I ended up getting the digital version from Pearson IT’s bookstore & it came with a few different versions (PDF, MOBI, and ePub) so I was able to load it on my Kindle Fire.

Kinda cool for convenience but I liked the hard book on the last exam so I could write in it. Guess I got stuck between being trendy and functional…LOL.

Anyway, about 60% done from the start of the book and its nicely written and put together. Now that I am a pro at bookmarks and yellow highlighting!

  1. I’m new to VMware learning and exploring the things ( varous pdf ) now, could you guys please help me the reference book for both VCA and VCP certification so that i can go through them as well, hopefully I’ll write the exam in next 2-3 months.

    Thanks in advance..
    Sincere Regards,

  2. Hello Sufiyan,

The best place to study is by using VMware vSphere in a lab or test system to get familiar with the product. A lot of the test questions come from real world use of the software and being used to seeing the screens & settings. You can also use the Official Study Guides from VMware Press. I used VMware’s Education site to study for my VCA and the books & PDFs to study for my VCP. Have a look at these links below to help, Good Luck!!
