Today’s vExpert Spotlight interview is with Marc Crawford. I have yet to meet Marc in person but best believe that will happen next week in San Francisco. We started communicating during a project we worked on for VMware’s Cloud Credibility team back in the beginning of 2015. Marc, Andrea MauroMike Medrano, and myself helped create about 180 VCP-DCV Exam Review Tasks in Cloud Cred as another way to help study for this exam. Lots of fun there.

Without any further mucking about, here is today’s vExpert; Marc Crawford…

What was your 1st IT gig?

My first IT gig I was a VB programmer in the Air Force.

What is your current job title and role?

My current IT job title is Systems Engineer. My role is to design, implement & maintain anything related to virtualization and storage. I am also one of the St Louis VMUG Leaders.

How many years have you been a vExpert?

This is my 1st year

What other IT Communities are you involved with or frequent?

VMTN & Experts Exchange

What advice would you give to others involved in the VMware community who are looking at becoming a vExpert?

Get involved in your local VMUG group. Network with other vExperts.

Do you currently have a Home Lab environment?

I used to have a large lab with several servers. Then I downgraded it and put everything in VMware Workstation on a beefy laptop. Now I am starting to use Ravello more since they offered free space to the vExpert community.

How do you use VMware products or services in your daily work life?

I work in a POC environment, so I get to work with most of the VMware products on a daily basis.

What certifications do you currently hold (if any)?

CCNA, MCSE, MCTS, A+, Net+, Sec +, VCA-WM, VCA-DCV, VCA-Cloud, VCA-NV, VCP-NV, VCP-DCV, VCP, VCAP5-DCA (Whoa, nice Marc!)

Tell us something about yourself that the community may not already know.

I love to ride my bicycle when I have free time. I rode over 1000 miles last year and I am on track to ride 1200 this year.

What’s your go to song or music genre when work stress becomes too much?

Heavy Metal (For a moment, I could have sworn you were about to say Queen after that last question!)
